Hi all,

Was wondering if any one could tell me what the "maximum hop count" is used for in the SMTP service?

The machine is running NT4 Server and IIS 4.

Thanks in advance

It is often the case that during it's delivery, a message gets handed off several times during the trip. Than number limits the number of servers a message can have traveled through before the server discards the message as invalid.

Classically, that number is used to prevent looping of messages. ______________________________________________________________________
