Ok, I know this isn't "supported" by Avaya, but I've also heard it can be acomplished somehow. What I want to do is have the ability to be on a call (on an analog line) and be able to send a "hook flash" to the line, get a second dialtone, dial a number to transfer to, and "hook flash" again to connect my caller with the number I dialed and drop out.

Has anyone done this with success and if so how?
Thanks!

Wow - basic telephony not supported! That's poor.

As it happens I use transfers from an analogue phone regularily. There is a minor problem with it that should be fixed in 3.0.59 (I haven't tested) in that sometimes the IPO doesn't recognise the flash from the phone. This is a recognised IPO issue, and usually works if you send a second flash.

In short, it works for me.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

The only reason I can think that you asked this is because you want to do it using a shortcode perhaps - is that right?

If not, it is simple stuff. During the call, hit your 'R' or 'Recall' button to send the hook flash to the line. You'll then get the second tone, after which you dial the number and then announce the call or hang of the handset to connect the call to that which is on hold.

It's just the same as transferring to another extension, but you're dialing a longer number!

If you want to use a single code to do it all, then it gets tricky because the only way to send a shortcode to IP Office is by sending it to a dialtone, and the only way to get a tone is to send a hook flash - ie use the 'R' or 'Recall' button.

Why not use your speed dial list in Phone Manager or the Directory on IP Office to enter a list of numbers you'll be transferring to. You can then just use F1 to transfer in Phone Manager - easy!!

I think what bwilch is trying to accomplish is sending a hookflash to the CO when using an analog station port.

Actually, using a digital station port, I'm trying to send a flash hook to the CO, so I can be talking to caller 1, flash hook, get dial tone, dial caller 2, flash hook and connect the two callers together. This would then leave open my phone line. From what I've looked at, it currently ties up two phone lines (incoming/outgoing) to acomplish this using the "transfer" feature.

I'll take a look at the "recall" feature.

Thanks!

Yes, you're right about two phone lines. To avoid this you need to use the Hold Call feature, which lucky for you is a digital telephony feature.

This holds the call using Q931 at the exchange end, which then frees up the ISDN B channel. This feature is only available on IP Office if it's supported at your exchange (check with the provider).

It's good that you're using DS too because you could program a key for this feature...

Telephone Number: Exchange hold slot number or blank (blank uses slot 0)
Digital Telephony: Advanced, Hold, Hold Call
Label on Phone: Hold (for 4620 and 5620)

Check the help file index in Manager for Hold Call, it's there along with Retrieve Call

I know this works with some providers in the UK, not sure where you're based.

I'm based out of the US (Indiana to be exact) and the other issue is these are analog lines, not a PRI/T1 :(

Of course, you said that earlier sorry.

The only way to do it then is to connect using recall, and I am sure this will still keep a line open, I'm afraid. I have a feeling this is a digital only thing.

Still, let me know if you have any bright ideas, I'd like to know how you get on!

Ok, ami confused here? Just build a short code with feature of Flashhook. I beleve that sends a hookflash to the trunk.

I belive you would use it by pressing transfer then shortcode.

let us know will ya

Interesting Perv2. The reason I came here and started brainstorming was I was told (by Avaya) that this was not a supported feature. They then told me they had heard of people being able to do it, however unsupported.

Your idea sounds logical. I have a test unit, when I get a little bit of time, I'm going to set it up and see if I can get it to release. If I am allowed to play with the test unit, I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Thanks for all the input.

ooops I got the wrong end of the stick! I thought this was station to station transfers

If all you want to accomplish is a Centrex-type transfer from a digital station, make a hookflash button as described above. I've used it for years.
