I just set up a home network for my boss with a D-Link wireless\hardwired router(to share cable internet). At work we use static IPs, in his house I used DHCP. He has Win98 on his laptop, Can I set up a different Windows login that will load a home networking profile so he can use it at home and an office networking profile for using it at work? With him manually changing the settings everytime is not an option.

Hope I made sense.

Jeff

Thanks I'll checl it out.

Is it not possible to do it with the client for windows login?

Network settings are system, not user dependent - so you can't set up 2 users with different network settings. Roamer's link is probably your best bet.

You CAN setup two different hardware profiles in Win98. By doing so, each will retain their own network settings (DHCP vs. Static). Just right-click My Computer and go to the "Hardware Profiles" tab. There, you should just have one that says 'original configuration'. Rename that to something like Home Network, then copy it and call the copy something like Office Network.

Now, each time you boot up you will get prompted to pick a profile before Windows loads. Simply configure each one the way it needs to be setup and they shouldn't interfere with the other...
