We have a W2K domain with a mixture of W2K Pro and W98 desktop machines.
When I create our new users, a home folder is automatically created in it's specified location the first time the user logs on to a W2K machine.
The problem is that this does NOT happen for our W98 desktop clients.

I have to create accounts and Home Folders for approx 5000 users. The account creation is easy enough using AddUsers.exe, but I don't want to create the Home Folders manually for them.

Anyone else had this problem?
Many Thanks
Mike

are you creating the users in AD users and computers? If so, if you give a valid home directory path in the user properties pages, the directory will be created immediately, regardless of what OS is used. Logging in for a first time should have nothing to do with it...

Thanks for the reply. I AM creating the accounts in AD Users and Computers.
I have followed MS Press instructions on creating home folders, but they only seem to be created the first time a user logs on.
But, Win 98 clients do not work..

Very Confused.

So, In AD Users and Computers, you're going into the Properties of the user account under the Profiles tab, changing the home folder from Local Path to Connect, entering the drive letter of your choice, entering the full, valid UNC path to the new directory, clicking Apply, and the new directory does NOT get generated?

Are the 98 members logging onto the domain or default workgroup? Won't get settings unless loging onto domain. Glen A. Johnson
