I have a situation with 30 users in a remote site connected by a T1. They all have roaming profiles and are instructed to save all their work on thier home directory. The home directory is located accross the T1 from them because there is no file server at the remote site. Lotus Notes is also configured to use the home directory for it's data folder.

The uers are having numerous application problems. The application problems appear to be due to intermitent short term loss of connectivity to their home directory. I have been asked to troubleshoot this problem.

My thought is that there is nothing to troubleshoot and that this is what you should expect when trying to force 30 users to use home directories in this way accross a T1.

I could really use some feedback on whether this is a workable situation. If anyone could point me to some resources for capacity planning in this scenario it would be greatly appreciated. Kevin Mattson

You don't say what operating system you are running. Familiar with NT and 2000. In either case, should have a server in the remote location. Believe you should configure those users to use local home directories. Should be a bdc or dc depending on the Microsoft operating system. Hope this is of help.
