Hi-

I don't know if this thread will get any responses but I was wondering if there is anyone else out there in healthcare that will be dealing with sending HIPAA compliant X12 EDI transaction sets using data that currently resides in SQL Server. If so, are you planning on using a 3rd party package (MS BizTalk, etc) to translate the data elements or are you going to go "freestyle" and just put something together using SP's?

I need to put together a 278 (Health Care Services Request for Review and Response) transaction set and also be able to import the 278 response.

Thanks!
Craig

We haven't prepared it yet, but that is something that we are going to training for next month... there is a company describing all of the data and programming requirements

I have included the info sent with my reservation so that you can see if it is applicable to your problem. If so, give them a call...

We are using Mercator to import/export the data. I've spent a few days trying to learn the Mercator product, and it's like nothing I've seen before - its quite powerful and quite complex. Multiply that by the complexity of some of the HIPAA stuff (like 834) and it gets goopy quick.
