I wrote a little vector for our help desk to "make" our callers listen to a message before dumping out with a "route to extension" choice for our help desk numbers.the VDN calling the vector is a non DID .This vector/vdn gets routed from an Audix subscriber automated attendant choice number( I inherieted this setup from previous admin). the thing is, this VDN shows up on a users digital set, it wont be long before the user gets smartt and dials the VND direct, instead of the Audix to VND/Vector path.
Is there some way to "hide" this number from the digital set display or make it non accessiable except thru the Audix SAA? we have S-8700 and CM 2.0.

The first vdn needs vdn override set to N, and the second vdn set to Y. (if i understand vdn override correctly)

<snipped from admin guide>
Allow VDN Override
This field appears if the Meet-me Conferencing field is n. This entry affects the operation of an agent’s
display and certain options/data assigned to the VDN when a call is routed through several VDNs.
For Expert Agent Selection (EAS), if this field is y on the original VDN, the Skills of the new VDN will
be used. If this field is n on the original VDN, the Skills of the original VDN will be used.
For Best Service Routing (BSR), if this field is y on the original VDN, the BSR Application and
Available Agent Strategy of the new VDN will be used. If this field is n on the original VDN, the BSR
Application and Available Agent Strategy of the original VDN will be used.
Valid entries Usage
0 to 9999 seconds Enter the number of seconds within which calls to this VDN
should be answered. This will allow BCMS to print out a
percentage of calls that were answered within the specified
time.
Valid entries Usage
y - The name of the VDN appearing on the terminating display
depends on the administration and chaining of the subsequent
VDNs and the AUDIX mail for the last VDN is accessed.
n - The name of this VDN appears on the agent’s display and the
VDN’s AUDIX mail is accessed. If any subsequent VDNs are
used to process this call, their names will not appear on the terminating display and the AUDIX mail for the original VDN is accessed.

thanks except there is only one VDN/vector, the VDN is accessed from an Audix Automated attendant choice..
so I dont think that will work...

okay then... how about adding a step to the vector that says:

got to step XX if ani in VRT
disconnect after annoucment (sorry you've reached a number that is no longer inserv).

step xx = normal processing.

put all the extensions/ports from the audix in the VRT, all others will get blocked.
