Looking for a way to hide a mapped drive on a server running win2k3. The only kicker is that this is a network resourse that is shared through samba. I'm only mentioning this in the off chance there is a way to configure samba to provide availabiltiy for a network share but not broadcast it. And yes, I know this is a windows forum :)

but basically i'd like to map a drive running in a linux world to a server running 2k3 but not have that network resourse displayed through explorer. Has anyone ever done this?

Not done it but I'll give the Windows answer in the hope that Samba behaves the same way as Windows does. Give the share a name ending in a "$"

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
