Office Communicator is starting up automatically on booting which is a nuisance as the VPN connection is not then established so it fails. However I cannot prevent it as it does not appear in the startup menu for my username or for all users. I also cannot find anything helpful in the registry, although I do not know where to look and just did some searches. Anyone know what starts it?

You can look in either:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

or

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

however you may be better off by running MSCONFIG from Start/Run and getting the information off the Startup tab

Hi Dooda,

Here's a much better product that gives you much more control than MSCONFIG:

It was originally by Sysinternals, but since M$ bought them, it's now under them.

It allows you to control not only programs, but drivers, etc... as well.

Good Luck

Many thanks for the responses, guys. AutoRuns does seem to cover everything (at least I hope there isn't more than it is showing!) and makes it easy to turn things off, so I have fixed the time-wasting annoyance. Cannot get AutoRuns help to work though, but didn't need it for what I did.
