I use an HID compliant mouse and as such, Windows does not save me mouse settings (i.e. number of lines to scroll with the web wheel) between resets. I looked up Microsoft's service descriptions and found that the Human Interface Device Serice should take care of this. It's disabled by installation default and when I try to manually enable it I get an error and am told the module cannot be found. Anyone had any experience with this HID service?

HID Service?

What is your exact error message? What hidserv files do you have on your machine (do a search). Try installing via hidserv.inf if you have it (just a guess). Have a look at the following link see if anything makes any sense to you.
