Hibernation

Hi all,

I have a laptop with XP Home edition installed. I tried to make use of the hibernation feature for the obvious benefits it provides. The problem is when I turn the computer back on after hibernation the os becomes unresponsive and sometimes no sound works (the sound section becomes greyed out).

I have had to stop using it because I have to restart the computer to get it all working properly again. Has anyone had any similar problems or better still does anyone know why this happens?

Do you have Service Pack 2?

If I remember correctly, this was a known issue that was resolved in SP2. . .

Sorry, completely forgot about my original post. I already have SP2 so its not that.

What kind of laptop do you have?

I also seem to recall some laptop manufacturers issuing BIOS updates to correct issues similar to this one.

You might want to check the laptop manufacturer's website and make sure you have all their latest updates for your model. . .

My logitech Itouch wireless keyboard prevents one from getting back into windows. I found out, thru trial and error, that moving the volume button gets my pc running again.
So im wondering if you have any keyboard or mouse programs installed on your notebook that could possibly be interfering. I realize yours is a notebook and mine a pc.

You might check the web sites of the device manufacturers for newer versions. This is not an OS issue per se.
