Hi,
We have 2 Cat 4000's running as VMPS servers. We have a bank of Cat 3550's that are client. I have just swapped out a broken 3550 (only 1 port was broke) for a new one (same model). I copied the config from 1 to the other. I was having a problem with VMPS updating so I just removed the new switch and place the old one back in.
I know have the same VMPS update problem. All the other switches were configure in the same way (pasteing config form a test file). See below for more info:
Our ports are as follows:
interface FastEthernet0/1
switchport access vlan dynamic
switchport mode access
no ip address
no cdp enable
spanning-tree portfast
When I plug a PC into one of the ports and het the following:
%VQPCLIENT-7-NEXTSERV: Trying next VMPS
%VQPCLIENT-7-NEXTSERV: Trying next VMPS
%VQPCLIENT-7-NEXTSERV: Trying next VMPS
doing a vmps reconfirm gives me:
VQP Client Status:
--------------------
VMPS VQP Version: 1
Reconfirm Interval: 60 min
Server Retry Count: 10
VMPS domain server: 172.20.1.
172.20.1.
Reconfirmation status
---------------------
VMPS Action: No Host
Any mahcine I plug in does not get access. The port status light stays orange. It's the "No Host" that is worrying me.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get the update to actuall take affect? There is not a connectivity issue between them as I can picg, and even telnet to the VMPS servers from the client 3550. All other 3550 at our site are able to "Successfully" do a vmps reconfirm.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
