Hi, Upgraded solaris 8 to solari

Hi,

Upgraded solaris 8 to solaris 9. After upgrading I am not getting CDE on my system getting only console login. Systems run level is 3. I am looking a syntax error message in /var/dt/Xerrors file.

Syntax error in /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/encodings/encodings.dir


Do I need to install any patches for fixing this problem. Installed 9_Recommended patch cluster.

Sounds like you didn't install all of the component for the x-windows. You need to pkgadd all the xfonts and graphic drive and X-11. You may have to install all of the X-11 stuff and just take out whay you don't need.

Used both Solaris 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. I ran pkgchk command on some packages giving some error messages. I think some packages are not upgraded properly. I went through standard upgrade procedure.

>bood cdrom
>selected upgrade option (F2)
>Rebooted after install solaris 1 of 2
>Installed solaris 2 of 2
>Rebooted
>Applied Sun 9_recommended patch cluster.
>Rebooted.

Did I miss anything here?
