Hi there!
My problem today is this.
We are running NT Server 4, SP6 on a network of Win 98/XP systems.. Everything runs great, but within the last week or so, the Server is rebooting unexpectedly. the Event Log just says the shut down was unexpected..
Any ideas?

Has anything been installed recently (Modems, etc?) I have seen some cases with the power supply going bad causing the server to reboot. What is the exact error from the event viewer? This will help isolate what device if any could be causing the reboot.

The exact error is Error ID 6008 the reboot of (day) (time) was unexpected.
An external modem was installed over 2 months ago. Hope this helps..

I would guess it has something to do with the external modem. Maybe try deinstalling the modem and see if that helps resolve your problem. If it does, than I would suggest calling the modem manufacturer to mention this is causing unexpected reboots on your server and what is the best way of installing this.

I seen another thread out here (sorry could not find it) that had the same problem with a modem. If I located that thread I will pass it on to you.

Check out thread55-282173 I believe this thread is on the 3rd screen
