Hi.. it's summer right now and since I'm off school I thought i'd teach myself C++. I have over a year of experience with Java. I've learned many different data structures using the Java language to implement.

I've looked @ the syntax of C++ and found it to be similar to java but I am unsure of the stuff I need to acquire in order to start writing programs with it. Are the compilers/runtime machines free for d/l? Or do i have to pay to get them?

Any sites or info is much appreciated.. thanks in advance.

You can get a free command-line compiler from Go to the C++Builder downloads page, and look for the version 5.5 compiler. I think it's an 8.7 meg download.

Thanks for the link dds82.. now i can get started.
