You do not need an AV unless you are one of the brainless types that clicks on every attachment to every email that some slob sends you, in which case the AV will make you feel more secure than you need to... practice safe computing! Just my humble opinion... 8 years online and virus free! And I do not run an antivirus. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

8 years, virus free. I have a collection of virii that I have collected from email attachments from the same losers that have slammed me with every virus hoax that has come down the road... and seems they have acquired every REAL virus or worm that has come down the road....
IMHO, if you practice safe computing, then don't waste your money on Nortons.. and if you feel you need AV, then use PC-Cillin which is one of the less intrusive apps and won't crash your computer during moments of crisis, such as when the deadline is looming.
If you feel you must use Norton's or McAfee, or have gotten them as part of a package, set them to the least intrusive, non aggressive setting, and then d/l attachments from email to a quarantine folder (DO NOT OPEN) and scan them before opening. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
