Pretty simple really. I'm looking all over GoLive like a cockroach scrambling for cover and searching for a way to place linkable text on top of a low-res GIF that's set to white as my background. Anyway I can do this without losing hairs? Thanks.

What is the gif the background of? BG of the page, simply enter text on the page. BG of a table or table cell, simply enter text into the table, etc, etc...

Are you sure you have the gif set as a background? I don't understand why else you would have any trouble. Are you using CSS to set it as a BG? Can i see the page somewhere.

My situation's pretty basic: I want to make a 790X600 website that has black text on a white background - with one banner and links sitting at the top of each page. Outside the space where my banner is however (i.e. to the sides) I want the screen to be just black so that the white space is nestled in between the black sides. What I did so far is create a table and inserted a white gif. That works fine except that now there's a small black space in between the white gif and the banner. On this white space I want to place a few jpegs in with some text - maybe a thumbnail or two. Nothing's online yet, sorry. I hope I described it enough though. It's a very basic website, as I'm just learning GoLive. By the way, any word on whether or not Adobe plans to keep the GoLive layout since buying out Macromedia, or are they going to keep the Dreamweaver layout (I think it's way too counterintuitive and messy). Maybe they plan on merging the two UIs together and creating something to please both camps?

Thanks for the help. I'm a complete noob in web design. My background's about eight years with Photoshop, Premiere Pro and illustrator, so you can imagine the headaches I'm been having learning to adapt for the web.

Adobe has publically stated that both GoLive and Dreamweaver will continue in developemnet. However they haven't said anything about what new features each will get, if there will be any UI changes or anything else about what to expect.

As for your web site. Take out the white gif and instead set the background color of the table cell to white.
