I am not sure where to post this.
We are in need of a peice of software to help this IT dept. track and complete all service requests from the company.
We were using a plug-in for Lotus while using Lotus. Now that we are on Exchange, we have been using squat.

Could someone please point me in the right direction for something simple that all clueless minions can use to send us request tickets, etc?

Thanks in advance.

Try Spiceworks at
Links into XC via POP3 to receive tickets from users via e-mail or can use a web page.

Also does some auditing functions.

Plenty of others though.

We use something from We can create technicians, create areas for specific techs and can do ticket tranfers, run reports, etc...

It's purely web-hosted so nothing to load/maintain on your end and you get a 30 day trial.

Pat, is that working well and do you have to know web page programming to use it. Reason I ask is that I am about to deploy our first Sharepoint server and I know just about rubbish when it comes to web page stuff.

I walked into the job with them using the bigwebapps hosted solution. I really don't have anything else to compare it to; however, it does work really well.

I like the SharePoint solution. It's not bad for a free solution. We needed SharePoint anyways. Since it sits on SQL, you can use SQL Reporting Services to do reporting. The only thing it doesn't do that I wish it did is support email submissions.

I was using Spiceworks 1.x.
2.0 has just come out though.

Was pretty good, easy to configure, system auditing was quite handy. Ad supported but they weren't too intrusive.
