HelpDesk Software Request

I am not sure where to post this.
We are in need of a peice of software to help this IT dept. track and complete all service requests from the company.
We were using a plug-in for Lotus while using Lotus. Now that we are on Exchange, we have been using squat.

Could someone please point me in the right direction for something simple that all clueless minions can use to send us request tickets, etc?

One of the exchange forums (use the find a forum search) - eg forum1582 might be better place to ask. Or one of the server forums - eg, forum931. This is for general hardware problems - which doesn't really fit your query.

Basically, you'll need to decide what sort of features are important to you and then look for something that meets those needs. I am personally a big fan of RT because it's free, and includes 95% of the functionality that people need.

we use a help desk program called assyst, it may be overkill, and i imagine its pretty expensive, but it covers all the bases when it comes to help desk logging and monitoring of tasks etc.

If money is an object have a look on download.com, i was looking for a help desk package a few years ago in a previous job and found a few good ones for free, or a few dollers, on there

We use assyst and it is overkill, does everything, but unfortunatly, not very well. Think it is the most god awful pos I've ever had to use.....

But of course that's just mine (and the entire IT deparments (excluding managers and directors .i.e those that don't have to "use" it)) personal view....

Most of them are awful. I have yet to find a single helpdesk ticketing system that does everything that I wanted it to in a way that makes sense and isn't ridiculously cumbersome. That's why I like RT so much. It's not perfect, but you can modify it to do whatever you want it to do.
