HELP !!! X.21 connection to IP500

We have a client who has , for some reason, decided to provide a lease line (256k) terminated as a X.21 connection.

There is no router on site. I have tried a convertor X.21 to Ethernet but it fails

I assume due to the encapsulation

Does any body have a solution (without putting a cisco in with a WIC1T )

Replace the IP500 with a 403?

Seriously though, bite the bullet and provide a router.

As a stop gap, you could use a 403 as a router tot the x21, how good it would be I don't know - but it might be a face saver, whiel you get a better solution in place

Thank you for your answer and i TOTALLY agree

And i informed the reseller of this 3 days ago. Unfortunatly he has choosen to ignor my advice. I am now in a situation on site with a end user wanting to kill me as he has no link to the rest of the world

Tell the "i told you so"
Tell him that you can not do it and you told him so!

I hate those customers and if i was working for my self i would ditch those customers.
But in the real world you are stuck with those customers.

Tell him again what you told him before and that his stubbornest will cost him money
