I'm having problems logging onto my xp machine. This morning the unjoined the computer from the domain. When i tried logging back in locally i couldn't. i've tried using all of the user accounts on that computer and can't login. i can see the computer and access it from another computer but can't logon. not sure what's going on. is there a way i can rejoin it to the domain from another machine. i have a windows 2000 server.

You need to rejoing the Domain, and a Domain Administrator Group username and password will be required.

It is helpful in this situations to remove the machine account from AD, wait 15 minutes, and add the machine account back before rejoinging, but can be done without this step in most cases.

how do i rejoin it to the domain if i can't log onto the computer? can i join it to the domain from another computer?

Hit F8 early and often and select Safe Mode (without networking) and logon as the local Administrator.

right-click My Computer, Properties, Computer Name, and change the settings back to your Domain setup.

Reboot and attempt your original user logon. It will prompt you for the Domain Administrator credentials.

i can't logon at all. i've tried logging in as administrator.

Thanks for your help. i think i got it to work.
