I am fairly new to PS...

I have a photo of a hat ( a baseball style cap ) and the boss wants to see what it would look like in different colors.

Can someone point me in the right direction on what to study? Is it channels? Or masks?

Basically I would like to make a selection, and add the new color while retaining the integrity of the photo, such as the little shadows and such that the indentations of the hat cast.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Try using the Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation controls, or you could use Image>Adjustments>Replace Color.
Or you could try Image>Adjustments>Levels (adjust the levels of the Red-Green-Blue channels).

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.
