Help with setting up a rURL to dricect to my server

Ok. Its been a very long time since I have done this. I have been out of this type of stuff for a year or two due to the military. But I have got a URL that I am wanting to to be directed to my server. I am using Server 2000 and I have installed DNS and the other things I need to set up, but I dont remember how to set the DNS up and how to get the URL to be directed to my server. I have bought the URL from godaddy. I know this might be a easy thing to do, but I have not done thing in a while and am trying to start my business back up. If you can please help me I will really appreciate it.

A little more info... is the server and web-site a public Internet server? if yes, have your isp (the one who assigned your public IP Address) create an A record for the domain name pointing to the ip of your server. Log on to the your godaddy account and point the DNS servers to the IP address of your ISP's DNS servers (where your host record lives)...

ok well I changed the A host to my server. So I will wait to see if it will work now. My server is a web site public server. I am sorry its been a long time and I dont really remember much about this. Thanks I will post if this works or not.

Ok well I am having problems with getting my DNS to work. I have set up NS01.NFKNIGHTSTEMPLAR.COM and NS02.NFKNIGHTSTEMPLAR.COM but when I go to godaddy.com and try to change my name server I am getting errors detected. I dont know whats wrong with it or anything.. Any ideas? Thanks

Personally I would have godaddy host your dns for you and then merely point

http://www to

your external ip of your server.

Well they just have a parked dns and then a dns for there server. I have not been able to figure out how to beable to let them do the dns and then me point to my ip.

You should contact Godaddy tech support to get help setting up your external DNS records.

I agree, you shouldn't be trying to host your own external DNS servers.
