Help with page design

Hey all

I am in the process of putting a Links page onto my website, however I don't really want the page to just be a list of hyperlinks. Can anyone recommend any more interesting ways to set up a page of that type? or provide links to some sites which have an interesting looking links page. Also can anyone provide me with links/ideas for a contacts page as well, I have one set up at my site but think it looks cr*p.

You can try adding a small description of the links...
Also try adding some images, animation, cool JS/css effects... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...
