HELP with lost in-cell dropdowns in EXCEL 2002

I've exhausted myself trying to fix this one. HELP!!

I have lost all of the drop-downs for all cells with data validation ON ONE WORKSHEET. All other worksheets are fine.

The validation is there (Data>>Validation) and it's enforced, but the dropdowns are gone. Even if I add a new validation to another cell ON THIS WORKSHEET with a hardcoded list of values, no dropdown.

I've had this happen before in EXCEL 2K. Closing the current EXCEL session and restarting always took care of it. Not this time.

When you click on the cell and go to Data-Validation is the "in cell dropdown" checkbox checked?

I assume yes.
In which case, I'd be rebuilding this workbook.
Start by copying all the sheets to a new workbook. It is often the *container* that goes bad in Office apps, as opposed to its contents.

Bet you've got "Frozen Panes" on your worksheet havn't you ??

Window>Unfreeze panes should sort it out

No frozen panes. I should have opinted that out since that wasw a common cause in EXCEL 97, I believe.

I WAS doing some copying of formats (including some conditional formatting), validation and formulas from a "staging" workbook where I had tested my changes first.

I got several of the messages about named fields which already exist in the destination workbook (and answered yes), but I've done this many times before.
