HI,
I've inherited a network with BE9.1 running on the main file server, along with a dell autoloader. I've been reading the manual for BE but still having some trouble, so looking for some pointers!

There are 6 jobs set up - Mon , Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri. These all all "daily" backup types and weekly full (full backup type)which runs on Saturday

There is a backup set for each of these backup jobs.

I have loads of spare tapes so basically I want to swap my tapes and send tapes in the drive to offsite storage. As the weekly full was done on Sat I reckon I should do my tape swapping today.

Questions:

How do I select which tapes to take offsite? is it the tapes used for the weekly full or all tapes?

Do I need to import replacement tapes in to the media sets?

Can I restore from these tapes using an internal tape drive on another server?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Ken

technically you should have 2 full backup, one at location and one offsite the offsite should be on a rotation, at least 4 weeks.

Do I need to import replacement tapes in to the media sets?

If you are sending your tape offsite then yes you would need a scratch media for the next offsite full backup.

Can I restore from these tapes using an internal tape drive on another server?

I'm not to sure about this - maybe?
