Hi! I'm new to illustrator and pagemaker, and would appreciate any advice offered.

In Illustrator, I created a simple graphic of a heart enclosed in a circle. [The heart is actually letter "a" of the dingbat family "luv n kisses".] Another ring of type surrounds this circle (using type path). I then grouped the 3 elements together.

When I tried to import this image into Pagemaker using the command "place", the outer 2 elements appeared correctly, but instead of the heart, there was the letter "a" instead."

When I then tried using "copy and paste", the heart appeared, but this time displaced from its original position. The lettering around the circle also shrank. In other words, totally out of proportion! "Insert object" produced the same result.

Thanks in advance for the help.

The program is seeing the heart as text. Try turning the heart (or everything for that matter) to outlines in illustrator before you paste it into Pagemaker. [under text menu/create outines] [sig][/sig]
