Does anyone know how to develope a grid for use in a map in AutoCAD? this is driving me crazy!?!?!

Help with grid building?

well, what kinda grid are you talking about, just your basic
straight lines up and down, if so there is no real way to do
it, you just gotta draw one line, and then the best thing to
do is offset the distance as many times as you need then its
the same in the other direction... For a 3d one to go up and
down over contours, I would suggest a Mesh, the command line
is '3dmesh' its kinda hard to get used to it but it does the job.
If this doesnt help then tell me exactly what is it you want
to draw. And what version of CAD you are using.
And by the way have you considered AcadMAP. Pretty useful!!!

I'm using CAD 2000. Basically yeah, just your square grid. 500 by 500 to be exact. How would I go about using AutoMAP?

The other question I have is: This thing has to be in long/ lat coordinates and streach from Denver to Chicago, any suggestions here? Thanx for your help by the way, much appreciated.

eh first off I live in Ireland and I havent a clue how far
it is from Denver to Chicago! But I presume its pretty far!!
ACADmap is another product by Autodesk, and it sits ontop
of ACAD2000 to work. Its pretty simple to use, but will
cost a bit, if you are in work try and get your boss to buy
it for you, it is well worth it. Especially if you are doing
alot of maps and stuff..check out these url's
