Help with flash upgrade on 3620

Hi everyone,

I'm kinda confused right now, what I'm doing is a simple upgrade by adding an extra 8mb flash into my existing 3620 router which already has an 8mb flash. So the combination should give me 16mb flash, but the problem is that I can't get it to combine, instead its giving me partition 1 and 2 both with separate 8mb. How can I get them to be one partition with 16mb?
When I try to copy tftp flash, it returns a message 'Destination file is read only'.

Any ideas please?

You need to issue the partition command under global configuration mode. I do believe that this will erase any files that you have in flash, so you'd have to relaod the code.

do a show run

do you see a command near the top indicating

partition 2 8 8

or something close if so

erase flash partition two and then go into config mode and remove

partition info

no partition 2 8 8

copy run start or write memory

then reload IOS to router. that will merge both partitions

and give 16 megs of flash to work with
