hi hope someone can help !

system has been running ok (a few hick ups with games) for ages, then all the sudden the other day system would not boot up after xp title screen (when screen goes blank after a few seconds desk should come up but this was not happening) if i left system after a while i would get blue screen showing problem with nv4_disp saying could be stuck in loop caused by driver or hardware. as i had installed new graphics card (asus v9570td 256 mg) only two months ago thought it could be that, have tried fresh install of xp and all drivers for card. phoned company i got card off and they said i had to try card on different computer, problem being i have not got access to another computer that could run that card. so i took card out and tried using on board graphics as i have the asus a7n266-e motherboard but as soon as i install drivers for that i get the same problem as i do with my graphics card. so at the moment i am using the on board graphics with just xp's vga compatible driver as this is the only way i can get pc to boot up. could the problem be with the motherboard (this is what i am thinking now) any help in this matter would be great.
p.s when i go into shutdown menu (i.e start > turn off computer) if can shut down ok but if i select restart comes up pc shutting down but then screen freezes all lights on pc go out but can still hear fans going inside tower, another reason i think it could be motherboard.

thanks

asus v9570 td 256 mg graphics card
130 g hard drive ibm

Sounds like the Graphics card may be pulling more than the PSU is supplying....

Did you completely uninstall the old software before installing the latest drivers?

Andy.

as far as i know i have uninstalled all drivers (is there anyway i can check) using 300w psu.

If you strip your machine to the minimum; AGP card, 1 RAM stick and 1 Hard drive, it should lessen the load enough to run ok. Don't forget to pull any PCI cards. Does it boot ok?

Then add a CD (if you need to test it on a game), if the PSU is low on grunt, this may be enough to tip it to a blue screen).

Andy.
