hello. i am experienced enough to build a comp, but for some reason, i do not see anything on da monitor. i triple checked the video cards, replaced dem *had other old ones* like twice, put dose cards in different slots *pci*, rearranged how the power plugs were plugged into the different drives and also used different hard drives. weneva i start it up, i hear da normal sounds, buh no floopy, juss normal for da first 4 secs. and da monitor is blank, juss black..... oh yea it worked once and only once. this was around the 3rd time i had rearranged the orientation of everythin. now it has to be like the billionth time. and i doubt that static killed sumthin on my comp. PLZ HELP! danks

Have you tried another power supply? even if it appears to be working it could still be giving incorrect current. Also try reseating the CPU and RAM, also try other RAM if possible. If this is no go unplug everything, and I mean EVERYTHING... even the speaker and LED connections etc, from the motherboard except for video card, RAM and CPU and then try it. If still no good take the motherboard out of the case and lay it on a foam or plastic sheet, hook up power and video and try it there in case it is shorting out on the chassis. If none of these work you probably have a dead CPU or motherboard.

Yes I agree!
Start with the bare bones, and work your way up.
You could even take out the motherboard and place it on an insulator (newspapers) just leave the ram, graphics card, CPU/heatsink/fan, plug into power supply and bridge the two power switch terminals to see if it boots.
Go from there! Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!
