help to buy IOS image to upgrade router 1

Hi,

I am going to set up VPN between PIX 515E(6.3) and 1721/1720 router. I need to upgrade IOS with IP/Firewall Plus IPSec 56 or 3DES feature.

my question is :
1. PIX has only DES license. Does IOS with 3DES support DES? or should I buy IOS with IPSec 56(DES)?

2. Would any IOS with IP Plus IPSec work on 1721 and 1720? or should I find router-model-specific IOS that support IPSec?

Always use IOS for the specific Platform it was intended. If there is no difference or just a small difference in price from des to 3des the get 3des as it will be backwards capable to des were des is not forward compliant to 3des.
