HELP!!! Software Inventory

I have a copy of the SMS database and all software within that environment. So I have my own SMS server with there information but it's not on the network so I can't use a script that needs a push to the client.


Last night I found a file Named WRAP80.EXE 394,000 and it belongs to a company named Oracle it's a Oracle PL/SQL Wrapper 2.1.

Because I have all that information can't I tell SMS to register that wrap80.exe file as Oracle PL/SQL Wrapper 2.1. so then it will tell me how many people are using this.

I have over a 1000 desktops to inventory by friday and I know there must be a better way to do this then visiting every desktop.

Provided that you have EXE as an inventoried software extension, the following WQL query would provide the information you seek. You could paste this query into a new query (Edit Query Statement > Show Query Language).

select distinct SMS_R_System.Name, SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile.FileName, SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile.FileVersion, SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile.FileSize, SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile.ModifiedDate, SMS_G_System_SoftwareProduct.CompanyName, SMS_G_System_SoftwareProduct.ProductName, SMS_G_System_SoftwareProduct.ProductVersion from SMS_R_System left join SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile on SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId inner join SMS_G_System_SoftwareProduct on SMS_G_System_SoftwareProduct.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile.FileName = "WRAP80.EXE"
