I.. We got Visual basic 5 to our school. It works just fine, I think, but when I tried to open some programs I copied from The net I only got that stupid 'retained' is an invalid key error.. What does it mean? my own projects open just fine but most of those copied ones don't. driving me insane.

so if you're not too busy with your important jobs etc.. maybe someone could say how to get over this retained is an invalid key- thingie..

thank you.. that's if I get any help. plup.

it depends on the program, depends on what they are doing

for example if it invovles a treview, and you try to set a duplicate name, or a name that starts with a number, or a name that is the same as a reserved word, then you cant set the key, please as your questions, much more specifically, as it could be human error to whoever wrote thecode.

You open a VB6.0 project on VB5.0

Open the .vbp (project in Word or Wordpad) and remove : 'Retained=0'
