Can anyone help with an Exchange 5.5 database, a friend of mine rebuilt his domain controler not knowing that a domain had a SID and thought all would be fine, the Exchange is no longer operative since and I would like to know if its possible to extract the mail from the database files into either Outlook, CSV file or to Exchange 2000?

Thanks in advance

Nick

Check out this MS article: Q155216. If he has the same disk partition configuration, computer name, and org/site names on the new server it is possible to move the database files onto the rebuilt unit, restoring his exchange configuration and mailboxes.

Right on the money.
We used this method to move two Exchange servers to bigger boxes. Just don't forget to run isinteg at the end or your services will never start.

Thanks AlexIT and ATCal, I have got the MS doc and will try to restore this for my friend over the weekend.

Thanks again.
