I have been tasked to set-up Exchange 2003. Unfortunately I have been out of the IT Support side of things for sometime and need asistance. What are the basic requirements that I need to set-up such a service?. I understand that there are two types of 2003, Standard and Enterprise, what would be best suited for us?. At the moment we are hosted by another organisation who maintain 160 mailboxes in Groupwise, my organisation as a workforce of approximately 500. Would it be better to purchase the standard edition and CAL user licenses?. I am also looking for guidance on an e-mail content security to protect against virus's, spam, etc. Which Companies provide the best solutions for this.

Help will be very much appreciated in this arena!!!

Regards
James

One piece of advice.
As you mention you are a bit 'out' and so have no idea where to start or end.
In the same line, it is really tricky to give any advice without having any background knowledge of your company.
Things to consider are , number of users, number of emails per user on average, lots of attachments or not, what clients, backups, web access, etc. etc. etc.
I would strongly suggest you get an independant consultant in to guide you through your specific needs as all we can do here is point you to some MS links and give tips and so all, but we only can guess about it all.
If any of use guess wrong, and you would take that advice, you could be on the wrong track.
Be very careful with 'advice' on the internet!
