Hai friends,

Can anyone please tell me how many maximum number of tables can I have in an Access dbf file. Also tell me how many maximum records can I have in a single table??

I need to have 600 tables aprox in a single dbf file.
I need to have nearly 15000 records in a single table.

Also tell me whether MS Access is suitable for this.

Thanx in advance
Regards
Uma.

I am not sure if there is a limit to the number of tables or records in a table. However Access does have a 2 GB limit for total data. With what you are suggesting it won't be long before you hit that limit.

Look into SQL Server. Thanks and Good Luck!

I aint to sure about this but I am using a fair size DB myself I have 50 tables and about 600 records in each one

Now I think your limited to 64k tables and a good few million records in each table

But take my DB with the amount of data I have in it and the hundreds of queries.

Total size 1.35MB

2GB is a huge amount of data it will do it fine but if you intend on running this on alot of machines that need to share the data then SQL is the way to go

If you are using Access 2000 then you have access to the MSDE, heck if you are using Visual Studio 6 then you have access to it.
Since its a full SQL database this is your limits

Database objects include all tables, views, stored procedures, extended stored procedures, triggers, rules, defaults, and constraints. The sum of the number of all these objects in a database cannot exceed 2,147,483,647.

Rows per table is limited by available storage (up to 2 gig for MSDE)

Plus you get the benifit that it is alot more reliable than Access AND it supports transactions.
