Healthstores,
As you have researched I'm sure, there are thousands of retail point of sale solutions from the basic ring'em up and move'em out, to full blown inventory, wireless control devices, credit card interfaces, etc. I could go on for a page or so.
From your other post, it appears you are shopping pretty hard. Couple of things to help find a place to start,
What type of platform does the software run on? Is it something that you know and can support and tweak yourself.
Don't know anything about manipulating database code, or too much about computers, other than using the mouse, then local support will be real important.
How much inventory control do you need? You get what you pay for, (sometimes..).
Do you have a high turnover rate with staff, then you will need an easy to use user interface.
Can you schedule price changes for sales, can you use purchase orders only when you want to.
Most important, how does it interact with other periphials? Do you have to have dedicated hardware or can you use anything that comes with OPOS drivers? Such as barcode printers, receipt printers, and scanners.
Again I could go on for pages. I guess what I am getting at is get yourself a checklist together on what you expect to get out of the system and compare the softwares tit for tat.
