Hello Guys,

Can anyone help me to fix this I/O Device error?
My CD-ROM Drive SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-248F is giving me a headache. I bought a new desktop DELL OPTIPLEX GX260 with this Compact DISC ReWritable Ultraspeed. It worked before but suddenly it stopped to read any CD-ROM(data or audio CD). I tried to replace the IDE cable,I changed to plug in the primary controller, I uninstalled/ installed it but in vain. I still get the same error msg : " D:\ is not accessible, The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

Please help me, I can not see any other way to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance.

At first glance, I would say, it sounds broken, take it to the shop or try the device on another PC to eliminate that possibility. If the solution is here, let us know it was helpful so others can benefit from it as too

BIGJDD - I agree with marcs41. Looks like it might be the drive, and trying the drive on a known good configuration would tell you for sure.

You might want to make sure there are no viruses lingering on your system like a master boot sector virus that survives a format.

look for jumpers on your expantion devices and look to see if two card have the same setting this is usualy the problem.
