When you restarted the machine with the new MB, you tne installed the Drivers that came with the new MB? The new MB should have come with a CD with drivers for the MB as well as instructions on how to install them, as well as drivers for the i/o devices that came built on it. If you haven't done this then you should.

As a start, make sure that DMA is checked in Device Manager for the disk concerned.

Yep--DMA checked for the hard drive---only made things worse.Chipset is VIA VT82c693a--Ihave installed the 4in1 drivers that came on a disk with the mobo

i havent heard of such an affect, does anyone have this experience?

if u did get a new hd with the new machine, switch the files and try it.

make sure nothing else is running at the time you try to play them on old hd

you didnt mention the sound card<s> and drivers, what are they?

good luck!

X-)

What software are you running? The only time I have seen this before, the mobo, processor and memory were not good enough, not the harddisk.

In most programs you have facilities to change the way the memory/harddisk buffer playback, if yours does, it may be worth trying a few other settings?
