DCH 10 OMSG DISC REF 00000017 CH 1 23 TOD 10:10:24
CAUSE :NORMAL CALL CLEARING

DCH 10 OMSG REL COMP

This thing only seems to do it intermittently it drops all calls and the sets go DSBL?

Looks like a problem with the Fibre between the Main and Expansion cabinets, check the fibres not been kinked, turn lights in comms room off and you'll soon spot a kink in the fibre, otherwise you need to replace the Fibre, Fibre Daughterboard on SSC card or Fibre Receiver Card.

thanks MossEng - I don't know why it's so intermittent? Think it might be the fiber interface card or power supply in the expansion cabinet?

Looks like this may be a fiber remote with power issues. Things I would look for: is the UPS going bad? Is the remote on it's own power feed and not one that may also supply your local break room microwave, which when used takes all the power from your cabinet etc. copier, other hardware that is intermittently used at the same frequency you are having issues ....

I'm pretty sure it's on a UPS but I'll double check. The site is remote and tandem operates from my Opt 81. Good question on other high amp draw equipment...? I wouldn't think so but who knows? It's a very big building....

Well, I had one of the people down there look in the comm closet while it was doing this and they are seing the expansion cabinet P/S cylce off and on. It doens't always drop the sets, but every now and then it does. I have a spare power dupply but the part numbers are pretty different. So do you think a NTDK78AB is interchangable with a NTAKD4AB? They are both AC/DC units....

AC/DC power units should be fine to swap over. I'm guessing that you have a Option 11c cabinet and not the mini version?.
I can tell you that your problem will probably be the fibre cable or the card in either the main SSC card or the fibre receiver card.

To check out the fibre, dim the lights in the comms room and look at the fibre cable where it routed. If you see light dotted around the spool and cable areas then it's the fibre. A workaround method is to unravel the fibre cable and spread it out and reconnect it again.

So far I've had 3 sites where the fibre cable has been the problem and only one that was the fibre card on the SSC card. Also check that the fibre cable is connected at the main and extension end as I've had one site where I found it had worked loose on the SSC card. The connectors aren't that good!.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Thanks firebird!! Yes it's an 11C cabinet. I did shut the lights off for a quick look - but I wasn't surre what i was supposed to be looking for. For now, I just swapped out that power supply and then I put up a boat load of calls into a conference bridge and watched the switch/power supply for awhile. I wasn't able to get it to do it again - but this thing has done this before and calmed down for weeks, then went back to acting up again. SO, I'll keep an eye on it and if it happens again, I'll tackle that fiber. Maybe the next time I get down there I'll just re-reoute it anyways....couldn't hurt.
