Hi, we have 4 computers we are trying to network for peachtree. I have 1 that's going to act as the server. I'm running windows XP pro on all the comptuers and have them all networked but one :( I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. If I set the permissions as allow everyone then I can get this comp to connect, but when I try just adding the name like on the other computers it doesn't connect.
I even tried creating a folder and named it temp and allowed sharing on it, just to see if it was something with peachtree and I can't even open that folder. I'm not sure what's different about this computer that it's not working. I have the same antivirus on all of them and the exact same software, same computers even. Any ideas? Thanks.

Wnen you say 'permissions' are you referring to the network sharing permissions (on the sharing tab) or the NTFS permission (on the permissions tab)?

Is simple file sharing disabled or enabled on all machines? If simple file sharing is disabled, do all machines have user accounts with matching usernames & passwords?

HI, simple file sharing is checked on all the computers, should that not be? on the permission I'm talking on the sharing tab for the folder, if I allow everyone or even the guest account on the temp folder I made or the peachtree folder then I can access it. :(

Somehow, I'm still misunderstanding. If Simple File Sharing is enabled, there are no options to select users (as mentioned in the first post). The options to select users only become available if simple file sharing is disabled.

You'll end up with much better access control if you disable simple file sharing, but it's more complex to set up. Here are a couple of good tutorials for either conditon:
