Dear people,

some of my users decided to remove the administrator rights on 'his' map on one of our drive-mappings. Beside the administrator rights and privilages, he also removed his own rights.

The hole thing was my mistake in the first place; I should not give users the 'full permission' on his directory anyway.

Is there a way around this problem?

thx,

regards,

Try to take ownership of the files first. Then give yourself admistrative rights on the files.

After this is complete, give the users Change NTFS rights or less.

A good tool to use for NTFS administration is CACLS. I believe this is a resource kit utility. It cmd based and give you a lot of flexibility in assigning/removing ownership and permissions.

Hope this helps.

thx for your help. Worked like a dream. After the ownership was taken, it seemed that the user deleted ALL the rights to the specific directory.

thx again,

cheers,
