We have three field people with laptops working at a job site who are trying to connect to each other's files. The machines are all Dell Laptops (2 Inspiron 8600s, 1 Inspiron 7500) connected with a 3Com OfficeConnect switch. Each PC is joined to our company domain, but on the job site they only have dial-up internet access.

From each PC I can view the other PCs in the mini-Network but double clicking on another PC's icon prompts a request for username/password. I need to find some way I can either share the hard drives or specific folders (either is fine) so that the others on this network are not propmted for passwords. Also I'd like to this without creating local PC accounts for them, but force them to user their domain logon (cached credentals) to make it easier on them when they do return to the domain.

I tried turning simple file sharing off, I've tried to give admin access to the HD and specifc folders to "Everyone" and "Guest" built in account groups.

What else can I do?

thanks
Stuart

I only tried to network the PCs with it off because it wasnt working with it on...

I'm headed to the job site today so I'll print that out and give it a shot anyway though.

well I ended up creating local user accounts on two of the three machines and duplicating them on the third machine and everyone can see the fiels needed and print.

never was able to find a way while keeping all three loging in via their domain account rather than local pc accounts.

Sorry, I missed the fact that they were loggin into a domain account.

You would need to do exactly as you did: replicate username and passwords among the three workstations.
