Hi, is it possible to migrate mailboxes from a 5.5 server to a 2003 server without having to re-create ost files for remote mobile users.

We have many laptop users who use Outlook 2000 and 2002 in offline mode and I am trying to avoid having to recreate the offline ost files. Can anybody suggest if this is at all possible and how it could be done ? Or even just point me to an article that may explain a solution ?

I would be grateful for any help that anybody has to offer.

Thanks

Steve

This article may get you started;

You may want to use Cached mode rather than OST's as this can add some functionality for remote users.

I guess you're using 5.5 in an AD environment? If not you will need to migrate the PC's into the new domain and that will create new user profiles too so you'll have to re-create the outlook profile.

I don't recall Outlook 2000 supporting OST files (but concede I could be wrong). You sure they don't have PST files? My recollection was that OST files were introduced with Outlook 2003 using cached mode.

I hope you find this post helpful.
