Help-Linking into BusinessObjects using Access

We have a system that uses Business Objects. I have never used Business Objects before. Is there a way that I can link to the tables using MS Access? Wasn't sure if anyone has used Business Objects and linked using Access. Thanks in Advance.

We have Business Objects 6.5. Not sure how to answer your other questions. Have not looked at Business Objects much. Just trying to see if there is a way to link into the tables? If not, wondered if there was any type of scheduler that would output a file automatically each morning. Thanks.

Yes, it is possible, however you will not be linking into Business Objects. BO is simply a reporting tool that sits on top of a separate database. Your database could be in any number of different DBMSs including Oracle, SQL Server, etc.

Your Business Objects reports will (probably) be based around a Business Objects universe, which will in turn be pulling data from a database. You need to open the universe in Business Objects Designer and check the Parameters dialog box (File>Parameters) which will give you the database details. You will then need to create a new ODBC data source object via Control Panel, which will allow you to connet directly to the database in MS Access.

Alternatively you could set a reference to the Business Objects library in VBA and automate the opening of Business Objects and report documents.

This does have the advantage that you do not need to understand the underlying database structure (one of the main points of using BO), however this solution is probably less suitable for what you are looking to achieve.

We use Business Objects to get data from Taleo. Appears we don't have the access we need because we were set up with ZABO "Zero Administration Business Objects". If we can't ODBC into the database, would like to at least get a file generated with Business Objects each morning automatically. Not sure if Business Objects has that ability or not.

The Broadcast Agent should be able to produce a scheduled file for you.
