I have two IP500 units in two different locations, each having it's own T1-PRI providing dial-tone. The two locations are connected via an MPLS circuit.

Is there a way to configure the IP500 units to detect T1-PRI failure and route out-bound calls via the working site?

Regards

There is a default shortcode ?/./50 Main/0 which directs all dialled numbers not recognized as a valid phone/group number or a valid shortcode will be send to ARS labelled "Main".
Within ARS there is a shortcode ?/./Dial/0 which sends the received call to outgoing linegroup ID 0.

The above is default, you may have different values!

Create a new ARS entry and give it a logical name like "NoDialTone".
Add a shortcode like ?/./Dial/(Outgoing Line ID towards remote location )

go back in ARS entry "Main" and add the above created ARS entry as "Additional Route", change the "Alternative Route priority Level" to 3 or less.

Now if a dialled number cannot be placed via ARS "Main" because the line is dead then IPO will send the call to the next ARS entry called "NoDialTone" and will try to send the call to the remote site which will pick it up and perform the same actions as the local IPO does. So in the remote site the call will go through the system shortcodes table > ARS > Line etc.

This is just a very short explanation and it may confuse you but this subject takes two hours in a classroom training

before anything else...

Do you have the ability to dial extension to extension between these systems?

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
