Hi

I went into the Startup option under the Tools menu. My intention was to set up my database so that when a user opened it it defaulted to the relevant form rather than the general Access start screen.

I made 2 changes under startup:
(1) Typed in an application name
(2) Unchecked the "Display Database Window" box.

I thought this is what I had done with a previous database but on this occassion the result was that the database when opened is completely hidden from view and I am denied access to the startup menu to rectify the situation.

Can anyone help me undo or by pass what I have done? It may or may not help to add that I originally saved the database as "db1" but changed the name just prior to going into Startup.

I stupidly did not make a back up as I did not think things could go that badly worng at that early stage.

Many thanks

try this...

when you open the database, click the F11 function key.

or

when you open the database from an icon, hold down the enter and shift key together until you see the database open

these 2 options should bring your database window back into view. the only way it wouldn't would be if you set a password and couldn't remember the password.

hope this helps.

Hi eques4,

Open the DB while pressing the shift key, if that doesn't work, take a look at this one I did this morning thread705-599818

Let me know how you get on.

Bill

If you can open the database at all...
go to macros-
Action1 = OpenForm (insert the required data at bottom)
Action2 = Maximize

Name the macro AutoExec

This macro will automatically run when the application is opened.

Thank you for any and all help,

PBrown

Many thanks to everyone for their help - I thought I was going to have to do the thing again for a while!
