Hi to all!

i've downloaded the foxpro patch files for windows 98 and xp from the microsoft site, but i can't find the instrictions for installing them. can anybody help me out with this or refer me to a link where i can get the instructions on how to install the patch files?

No readme files. the patch files are IPatchFP and patch2x.

Those patches will probably work fine. Some of the patches were FP version specific.

The patch that I have had the most success with is DZPATCH

If you do a Google search for DZPATCH you will find quite a number of referenced pages.

Off of the top of that list I found:
where you could download DZPATCH However there are many other alternatives.

Good Luck,

Hello DSummZZZ!

Does the dzpatch also eliminate the problem of illegal operation that we get when trying to run foxpro 2.6 on windows 98?

The "Divide By Zero Patch ( DZPatch ) will address running Foxpro application on today's faster processors and eliminating the erroneous "Divide By Zero" error.

The DZ error can sometimes be the cause of other more obscure errors, but illegal operation is usually not one of them. Apply the patch and see if the problem goes away.

But your other error is most likely caused by a code problem within the application code itself.

Use Foxpro in its Developer mode and run the application from the PRG file. Then, when the error is encountered, you will be able to Suspend the program and use the Trace Window to examine where the error is occuring and, by using the Debug Window you should be able to see what might be contributing to the problem.

Good Luck,

Illegal operation errors are a lot of times, the result of corrupt index files. Recreate your indexes from scratch, don't just do a REINDEX command.
Erase the index files or do a DELETE TAG ALL then issue the INDEX ON ... command for all index tags or files.

Even more Fox stuff at:

The illegal operation does not occur when trying to run PROGRAMS developed in foxpro 2.6. It occurs when starting foxpro itself, just like the divide by zero error. When you launch foxpro, u get a message that an error has occurred. it gives you two options IGNORE or CANCEL. if you click on cancel the program is terminated but if you click on ignore, foxpro is loaded allright.
