Ok here's the deal. I have windows 98 and when i go to boot up and get into the start screen ,a message says explorer caused illegal operation and will be shut down and explorer caused invalid page fault in module D3DLOL.LL at 016f:61c05319. When ever i close out the message, it pops right back up. i can't get into any of my files or move around anywhere on the computer. This happened as i was closing out pop-ups on a webpage .Can anyone offer advice, please. Thanks!!

You might need a re-installation. Looks like when you removed an offending program, it left a pointer to the program you removed. Can you boot into safe mode? If so, you can use the regular anti-spyware programs.

Use one/all of these;
[1]
Boot to the STARTUP MENU by pressing and holding CTRL key or tap the F8, right before Win Logo appears...
choose SafeMode..
If you can get to Safe Mode either way...Go
Start>Run SCANDSKW
[2]
If no joy...restart and type
SCANREG /FIX
[3]
If you can only get to Commmand Prompt only,
Type;
SCANDISK /ALL
Restart and run Scandskw (either from the Run box or the GUI)
[4]
WIN /D:M from command prompt to get to Safe Mode if you can't do it normally..
[5]
Boot from a floppy Startup disk to a C:\ prompt and Type;
SCANDISK /ALL
[6]
You may need to use SFC to replace Explorer.exe from your 98 CD
GO Start> Run SFC
click OK.

Click "Extract one file from installation disk."

In the "Specify the system file you would like to restore" box, type
Explorer.exe
Click Start.
In the "Restore From" box, Browse to the Windows 98 CD (D:\Win98)
In the "Save File In" box, Browse to C:\WINDOWS, and then click OK.
Click OK and then click Yes to restart the computer.
